Let’s be honest, not everyone has easy access to a printer. For more information on presenting your ticket while travelling, please find your transport operator from the list below.
National Rail (UK Rail)
Please be mindful that e-tickets for UK Rail bookings are not yet available on Rome2rio (coming in 2019). Therefore, you will need to collect your tickets from a UK train station with self-service collection facilities. Further details are available in your confirmation email.
Amtrak (USA Rail)
If you are unable to print your e-ticket before departure, you may also be able to print it from a self-service machine at the station. Alternatively, if your smartphone or tablet device can receive email and open a PDF document, you can present it on the screen to the conductor.
Renfe (Spain Rail)
Your PDF e-tickets are attached to your Rome2rio booking confirmation email. They can be printed, or shown clearly on a smartphone or tablet.
You can also print your tickets using self-service machines located at major railway stations in Spain (click here to check the list of stations). If you prefer this option, please allow 20 minutes before departure.
Trenitalia (Italy Rail)
Please be sure to read your e-ticket carefully for full instructions. If you are unable to print your e-ticket, you can rely on the following:
National Trains (e.g. Frecciarossa, Frecciargento, Frecciabianca and InterCity)
You only need to quote your 6-character booking reference (PNR) on board. You can find this on your e-ticket attached to your Rome2rio confirmation email. A valid form of photo ID must also be shown at every request by staff.
Regional tickets must be shown in paper form or on a device (PC, tablet, smartphone) capable of viewing PDF files. A valid form of photo ID must also be shown at every request by staff.
National Express (UK Coach/Bus)
If you are unable to print your ticket, you can show your ticket on your smartphone. The full ticket must be shown - pictures/screenshots will not be accepted.
VIA Rail (Canada Rail)
You will receive an e-ticket (Boarding Pass) directly from VIA Rail, and you can present a printed version or display its barcode on your mobile device, along with a government-issued photo ID upon request, at the boarding gate and on board the train.
Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) & DB-SNCF
You will receive your Deutsche Bahn e-ticket attached as a PDF file in your confirmation email. These tickets can be printed or shown clearly on a smartphone or tablet. You can also present the ticket through the Deutsche Bahn app called DB Navigator.
SNCF (French Rail), SNCF TER, Renfe-SNCF & Lyria
We provide e-tickets where possible, but some regional SNCF routes will only permit collect-at-station tickets.
Print them yourself on A4 or letter sized paper.
Print it from an SNCF self-service machine.
You can also show your e-ticket barcode on your smartphone.
These tickets must be printed from an SNCF self-service ticket machine (find one here) using your surname and 6-character booking reference outlined in your confirmation email.
You can also retrieve them from an SNCF ticket desk using your booking reference and name.
Eurostar (Western Europe)
You will receive your Eurostar e-ticket attached as a PDF file in your confirmation email. If you are unable to print it before travelling, you can collect your ticket at a Eurostar self-service ticket machine (using your booking reference and the payment card used for purchase) or the Eurostar ticket desk (using your photo ID). You can also download a mobile ticket from the Eurostar website using your 6-character booking reference (PNR) and surname.
It is mandatory for all passengers (including infants and children) to travel with a valid passport or a national identity card (EEA citizens and Swiss nationals).
Thalys (Western Europe)
Your e-ticket will be sent directly from Thalys and should be printed for your journey. You can also display the ticket barcode on your smartphone or tablet.
Greyhound (USA Bus)
You will receive your Greyhound e-ticket attached as a PDF file in your confirmation email. These tickets will need to be printed before departure.
ALSA (Spain Bus)
You will receive your ALSA e-ticket attached as a PDF in your confirmation email. These tickets will need to be printed before departure.
